Galerie des Modes, 17e Cahier, 2e Figure

Young Woman, coiffed in a round half-cap called "the Milkmaid", with a pink headband, a satin pelisse lined with fur over a Polonaise of pink taffeta striped with blue, with a petticoat of the same. (1779)

Matching morning negligée, in Winter.  The Print and the caption that accompanies it give a sufficient idea of this costume of the flirtatious Bourgeoises.  One will observe only the two falling curls of hair, accompanied by a pulled-up chignon in a braid, and the prodigious height of the petticoat's volant, that conform to the etiquette or usual fashionable clothing.
