Lingerie dress, ca. 1920

White cotton lingerie dress.  V-neckline shaped by double-ruffled faux kerchief, of a length to cross in front, and tie in the back (or possibly to also cross in the back and tie in the front).  Kimono sleeves are edged with two ruffles the same size as those on the kerchief.  Bodice is evenly gathered and sewn to the upper and lower edges of a petersham waistband, which is on the outside of the bodice.  Closes center back with snaps.  Unshaped skirt, which is decorated with four deep tucks, is folded under and gathered to the waistband on the upper edge, outside.  Worn by Ardis Burdick (b. 1902) at her high school graduation.

Condition: The dress is in good condition, although the fabric is somewhat crisp.  It would benefit from being hydrated with a steamer, and should be kept in buffered paper.
